Exam and Proctoring Setup

Proctoring Information

This open-course timed exam must be proctored, meaning the test will be overseen by an authorized proctor who will ensure the identity of the test-taker and integrity of the test-taking environment throughout the duration of the test. Make sure to begin your online proctoring session before starting your exam. Online proctoring via the link below is available 24/7, does not need to be scheduled in advance, and is at no additional cost. 

To take the online proctored exam, you must have:
  • A laptop or desktop computer with the Chrome Web Browser, a working video camera, and a microphone
  • A fully-charged mobile device with a working camera
  • The Google Meet application downloaded to your computer or mobile phone
  • A valid ID that includes your name and photograph; this can be your school ID, driver’s license, state-issued ID, or passport
  • A reliable Internet connection of 1MB or higher
  • A valid government-issued or school-issued ID that has your full name and photo. If you do not have a valid ID, contact your affiliated institution.

Required technology

  1. Desktop or portable computer, including Windows PC, Macintosh OS, or Chromebook (tablets, cell phones, and iPads are not supported) 
  2. Updated Google Chrome browser
  3. Working built-in or external webcam, speakers, and microphone 
  4. Internet speed must be at least 2 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. Hot spots are not recommended. Test your internet speed at: http://www.speedtest.net/

Testing Environment

  • Before logging into the proctored test environment, all third-party programs and windows on the testing computer must be closed.
  • Students should be seated at a desk or table that is cleared of all unapproved materials (e.g., books, papers, notebooks, etc.)
  • Students must take the exam in the same room they scanned during the proctoring setup for the current exam. 
  • The room must be as quiet as possible. No other person is allowed to enter the room and sounds such as music, or television is not permitted.
  • Use of hats, hoodies, headsets, and earplugs are not allowed.
  • Do not leave the room during the exam for any reason unless posted rules for the exam specifically permit you to do so. 

Proctoring Instructions and Agreement 

Before proceeding to the assessment read through the proctoring instructions and agreement by clicking here. Once you’ve started the exam session, the proctor will ask you to acknowledge the agreement. 
When you are ready to take your exam, click the link below and follow the instructions to begin your proctoring session. Once your session has begun, your proctor will give you a password to begin your exam.

Taking the Exam:

Once you are all set for your exam click here to begin your online proctoring session. If you are associated with a partnering school, please know that you may check with your school to see if in-person proctoring is available.

After the Exam:

At the end of the testing window, you must present your scores to the proctor before disconnecting from the testing session. Please understand that if you are disconnected from the testing window and do not immediately reconnect with your proctor, your testing session may be flagged for academic misconduct.
