Exam Study Tips

Exam Study Tips

Study Guide

  1. As you progress through your course, don't forget to use the study guide located in the "Document" section of your Course Home Page. It's a valuable resource that identifies key concepts to focus on while preparing for your exams.

Practice Questions

  1. For additional preparation, access the practice questions available in your exam lesson module under "Study Tips." These practice questions are designed to help you evaluate your understanding and readiness for the exam.

Create a 3x5 notecard

  1. Students are typically allowed one handwritten 3x5 inch index card to use during the exam. You may write notes as small as you’d like on both sides. It may be helpful to review your results from the quizzes and the "Check Your Knowledge" questions to determine what information you’d like to include on your notecard.

Review the Module Summary

  1. The best way to study is to review the Module Summary lesson at the end of each module. Focus on key terms and use these lessons as a study guide by taking notes that outline connections between the Learning Outcomes and Glossary Terms.

Review Previous Quizzes

  1. Review the Check Your Knowledge and Module Quizzes, and make sure you check the feedback for the right/wrong answers. You can test yourself by re-taking the Check Your Knowledge quizzes and by making flashcards out of the Module Quiz questions.

Additional Note-taking Tools:

Flashcards
  1. Written or digital flashcards can be used to help remember key terms. This is especially helpful in remembering the glossary terms located in each Module Summary lesson.

Concept Map / Sketchnotes

  1. Concept mapping can help define relationships between concepts. There are many tools to create a concept map, from paper and pencil to google docs or slides. One helpful way to create a concept map is via “sketchnotes.” This tool creates a visual representation of what has been learned. Check out this video that explains what sketchnoting is and how it can be used to help you study.

Important Note: publicly sharing verbatim exam questions via digital flashcards is in violation of TEL’s code of conduct and will result in disciplinary action.
