Grades and Feedback

Understanding your grades and feedback is an essential part of tracking your progress in your course. Below is a guide to help you access your grades, view assignment feedback, and understand the grading timeline.

Accessing Grades in Canvas

To view course grades, please follow the steps below:

1. Log in to your Canvas account.
2. Navigate to the Grades tab located on the left-hand menu of your course dashboard.
   
3. You’ll see a breakdown of your assignments, quizzes, and other graded activities, along with their corresponding scores.

Viewing Feedback on Mastery Assignments

Course Instructor and assigned TAs provide feedback on Mastery Assignments for students to access:

To view this feedback:

1. Go to the Grades tab.
2. Scroll down to the specific assignment you’d like to review.
3. Click the conversation bubble or clip board icon that appears next to the assignment once graded.
   

Grading Timeline

Please expect up to 5 to 7 days for mastery assignments to be assigned a grade.

Important Notes:

• Multiple-choice quizzes and exams are automatically graded upon completion.
• If you are waiting for feedback on multiple mastery assignments, they may be returned at different times based on when they were submitted.
• Students can expect manually graded assignments to take at minimum two days per upload to ensure careful feedback.
• Copyleak is a tool used to assess originality and is not the same as a grade and feedback from your instructor or TA.
• Mastery Assignments may receive an auto-generated report from our Copyleaks similarity detector.

General Submission Policy

• Typically, only one mastery assignment or submission will be accepted for grading.
  
• On occasion, graders may leave comments on a submitted assignment with recommendations for improvement before grading the work.
  
• If you do not see a grade for an assignment that was submitted over five days prior, be sure to check the comments for relevant feedback.
  
• If you do not see a grade or any feedback, or if you have questions, please feel free to email your instructor through the Canvas Inbox.
