Maximizing Your Course Performance: Grade Summary and Assignment Weighting

When viewing the Grade Summary within your TEL course, understanding the weight distribution of different assignment categories is essential for prioritizing your efforts and improving overall course performance. This information is also available in your course syllabus in the "Documents" tab on your Course Home Page.

Assignment Weight Distribution:

  • Participation Assignments:
  • Includes CYKs, CEEs, and discussions.
  • Generally weighted the lowest in relation to your overall grade.

  • Mastery Assignments and Course Exams:
  • Typically carry the highest weight.
  • Successfully completing these assignments significantly impacts your final grade.

Important Considerations:

  • If your grade appears lower than expected, it may be due to the heavier weighting of mastery assignments and exams.
  • The grade book may take up to 24 hours to update after completing automatically graded assignments like quizzes or exams.
  • Instructor or TA Feedback for writing assignments will be provided within 3 - 5 business days.
  • Relevant course information and specific assignment overviews are available in your syllabus, located in the "Documents" tab of your Course Home Page.
  • Once all required assignments are completed, your "Current" and "Final" grades should match, indicating your final course grade.

Grade Summary:
Understanding assignment weight distribution will help you effectively allocate your time and focus on areas that maximize your course performance. Refer to your syllabus for a comprehensive breakdown of assignment weight distribution and other essential course details.
