In a literature review, the main goal of this section is to evaluate other psychologists’ findings through their own research methods and outcomes. 

How to organize an outline for a literature review:

1. Introduction 

1. Introduce the research topic - What is it? Why does it matter? 

2. Identify and focus on the research topic for your client 

3. Briefly introduce the articles and topics that will be discussed in this review and how they relate to your client.

1. Headings - Use headings to organize the information 

2. Describe, compare, and evaluate studies for each section 

1. Describe the relevant parts of each study and explain why it is relevant to the topic. 

2. Compare the studies.  Discuss your interpretations of what the studies show and whether there are important differences or similarities.  

3. Evaluate the importance and the implications of each study.  Identify questions you may still have about the research.  Determine what topics might need to be addressed next in the study.
