Choose an idea or concept.  This idea should be more than a simple noun.  

Be able to relate to the concept.  Have a personal connection to the topic you chose.

While this is not necessary, it may be interesting to note the etymology, or the history, of the word you chose to define and explore in your essay. 

Define the term, then identify three characteristics associated with the term.  These are the three main ideas that will be discussed in the body of your essay.
