A conclusion paragraph is typically the final paragraph of an essay. The purpose of this paragraph is to summarize the main points of the thesis statement and to examine the significance of the essay. The conclusion should not restate the whole paper, but should review or take a look back at the paper’s major points. The conclusion could ask the reader to consider future implications, if applicable, or provide a solution or suggestion to the problem. There are three main components of a conclusion paragraph for a research paper.
Conclusion Paragraph Format:
Restate the thesis statement in an original way. Include a transition into the conclusion.
Summarize the body paragraphs in a new way that reflects the importance of the point your paper is making. Spend some time explaining why this is an important idea, why someone should care about your claims, the repercussions if a change isn’t made, or actions your reader can take to help make a change, if applicable.
Finally, wrap up your paper. Refer to the hook if it was an anecdote, or find an interesting quote or statistic or inspire your reader.
