Calculator Violations on TEL Education Exams

Proctors will be monitoring students during the assessment process.  They are keenly aware of any violation of the Academic Misconduct code.  


Violations of the TEL Education Academic Misuse Conduct Code include, but are not limited to, the following items: 

  • Use a different graphic calculator other than the one provided. 

    • This includes, but is not limited to: 

      • An online calculator other than the one provided  

      • Phones and phone calculators

      • Calculator apps

      • Calculator widgets

      • Math and Calculator Extensions 

      • Calculators on watches (Smartwatches, calculator watches, etc.) 

      • A calculator preloaded on the computer

  • The use of a mobile device, including but not limited to a cell phone, a smartphone, a tablet, an e-reader, etc., as a calculator of any type is strictly prohibited.

  • Looking up information on the internet or conducting an internet search  

  • The use of formulas and equations from a website other than those provided on in the TEL Education Exam

  • Use of different types of calculators, i.e., Scientific Calculator, Four Function Calculator, Matrix Calculator, Geometry Calculator or Geometry Tools, Financial Calculator, etc.  

  • Use of any math equation solver online or an app on any device, including but not limited to Microsoft Math Solver, WolframAlpha, Quickmath, Mathway, Symbolab, Cymath, Equatio, etc. 

  • An Internet search for answers, equations, formulas, examples, similar problems, or information that would help a student answer the exam questions.
